The GSGE Department recognizes that action is required to improve indigenization, equity and diversity, inclusion, anti-racism and accessibility both within our Department and in the larger community.
Equity Resources at 皇冠体育's
Indigenization
The Office of Indigenous Initiatives builds community, advances reconciliation/conciliation, and integrates Indigenous ways of knowing and being into the fabric and life of the university through programs, funding opportunities, and initiatives that are helping to build a campus that embraces reconciliation and encourages all members of the 皇冠体育鈥檚 community to learn about Indigenous ways of knowing.
Equity
Equity Services works with Officers of the University, the Senate Education Equity Committee, and the Council on Employment Equity to ensure that equity is achieved throughout the University in accordance with the Report on Principles and Priorities adopted by the 皇冠体育's Senate in 1996.
Diversity
The 皇冠体育's Human Rights Office informs, educates, and advises the 皇冠体育's community about their rights and responsibilities in the area of human rights. The Human Rights staff can also provide confidential advisory services to students, staff, and faculty following incidences of harassment or discrimination.
Inclusion
皇冠体育鈥檚 students, faculty, and staff come from every imaginable background 鈥 small towns and suburbs, urban highrises, Indigenous communities, and from more than 100 countries around the world. You belong here.
Anti-Racism
Racism is a belief that one group is superior to others. Racism can be openly displayed in racial jokes, slurs or hate crimes. It can also be more deeply rooted in attitudes, values, and stereotypical beliefs. 皇冠体育 is committed to developing policies and providing resources to combat racism in all its forms.
Accessibility
The Accessibility Hub is a central online resource for accessibility at 皇冠体育鈥檚 University, serving to elevate inclusion and improve access for everyone on our campus. 皇冠体育鈥檚 University is committed to building a campus community that is inclusive for all individuals, and ensuring that its services, supports, and spaces are accessible for persons with disabilities.
GSGE Resources
The university has broad policies that cover discrimination and harassment for the 皇冠体育鈥檚 community as a whole and 皇冠体育s employees. Students, faculty, and staff in the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering as well as anyone in the broader 皇冠体育鈥檚 community have access to a number of on campus resources that provide confidential guidance on university policies and procedures, possible next steps, and available support for those experiencing harassment, discrimination, or otherwise not feeling included in the 皇冠体育鈥檚 community. These services aim to foster a better campus environment and allow you to decide whether any further action will be taken.
